The modern city of Shanghai

Shanghai is a very modern city with an unbelievable skyline.  It felt like there's an ongoing contest to see who can build the most unusual building.  Shanghai at night is gorgeous and you can understand why they have 7 coal-fired power plants for the city when you see all the lights.  Although this is the biggest city, over 24 million people, it felt a bit less crowded and the traffic was a bit more orderly than Beijing.  You also felt less Government presence than in Beijing. We travelled outside the city to see how silk is spun, but stayed mainly in the center of Shanghai.  We also had a week visiting with family, as Roger's daughter and her family are in Shanghai.  Roger's son-in-law is in the 3rd year of a 3 year assignment and this was the reason we were prompted to plan this trip.  Thanks!
